0.04 LEI ADDED TO GASOLINE PRICES IN A WEEK (0.7%); DIESEL PRICES DECLINE BY 0.05 LEI PER LITER / ENERGYNOMICS.RO

The price of gasolines sold by Petrom climbed four bani during the last week in all eight stations monitored by energynomics.ro, reaching in each city the highest level of the year. Thus, the upward trend in gasoline prices continues, with an average increase of 0.7%, the 11th in the last 13 weeks. Since January 7, gasoline price increased on average by 10.54%.

Constanţa continues to have the lowest price for gasoline (5.46 lei/liter) among the eight monitored cities. The highest prices for gasoline are to be found in Braşov and Craiova (5.6 lei/liter), and in Bucharest (5.59 lei/liter).

For diesel, it was the first week this year when prices have declined in all the eight monitored cities. However, on average, diesel prices grew by almost 8% in 2019.

In the past week, the leu lost ground against the dollar (0.91%) and the euro (0.24%). Since the beginning of the year, a 4% depreciation for the leu against the dollar, at the exchange rate of the NBR (more than 25 bani) and over 2% against the euro (almost 10 bani) has accumulated.

On international markets, oil prices are back on the upward trend, with an over 3% gain for the WTI contracts, against the previous week’s level; the WTI price is today at over 60 dollars per barrel. In the case of Brent, we have an increase of 2.7% compared to March 25, with transactions being made now above $ 68 per barrel. Since the end of last year, WTI crude oil has risen by over 33%, while Brent has risen by over 28%.

In 2019, energynomics.ro will monitor the evolution of prices for gasoline and diesel sold at Petrom stations in eight major cities in Romania: Bucharest, Iasi, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Oradea, Constanta and Craiova.
